The adapter cable successfully solves the problem of compatibility of devices operating on the RS232 interface. But, the connected device itself must be turned off at the time of connection. The adapter cable is controlled via a computer or laptop using special programs (drivers)

The USB – RS232 (DB9) adapter cable has two interfaces for connecting to a computer and for connecting a device: the USB interface supports specifications 1.1 and 2.0 and has a data transfer rate of 0.5 – 480 Mbit/s;
the RS232 interface is implemented in a 9-pin DB9 standard connector (aka COM port), has a data transfer rate of up to 115200 bit/s.
